CSS Frustrations
I haven't been writing much and one reason is that every time I come to my blog I'm spending my time trying to configure it to look the way I want it to. And that is driving me bananas. I just want it to have the same look and colour scheme as my old blogspot - but I can't figure out how to get the daisies down the side! I know it's probably a simple thing I need to tweak, but I just can't figure it out. I have managed to narrow the content to make a space for the daisy background, but I ... read more
Pat on my back
OK I'm not getting on with setting up this blog very fast because I am otherwise busy, but today I have some time and I noticed that I need to upgrade my version of Wordpress. Having only recently learned how to install the bloody thing I think it is far too soon to expect me to upgrade it! But I seem to have managed to do it without disappearing my blog again *grin* So Here I am version 2.6.1 and I have no idea what the extra .1 has given me that I didn't have before. But I'm sure it is ... read more
Giggling
Heh so I am far too busy to be diddling with this blog but I thought I would be smart and try to figure out the adding images to posts bit. Obviously I didn't figure that out yet but I did manage to completely deny access to even see this blog to all and sundry - including myself. I don't even know how I did it, but I seem to have got it back. I will take the hint from the universe and go and do something else and see what other disasters I can create. *laughter* (I think I am looking ... read more
We have flowers
Today's massive achievement in learning Wordpress - the flowers at the top and bottom. I don't like that blue line though but I'll figure out how to affect that another time. I'm also not getting my head around the side bar much - I think it supposed to have two columns but I have no idea how to achieve that. So I'll come back to that. It's all a bit white and clutter free for ... read more
Footless
heh I have footered aboot and diddled wi the header and made it a site more .me ;o) Lost those silly feet on the letters too. There's not enough clutter and it's too clean looking for me, but the first attempt at decorating the walls has resulted in colour where I wanted it and no explosions. Must ... read more
Skribit ~ Inspire Me ;)
Skribit: Social SuggestionsI spotted this new widget over on the Tamebay site (thanks you two :) and thought I'd give it a turn. Anything to stimulate the blogging muscle is a good thing - and who better to suggest topics than my readers, eh? :) So feel free to kick my arse with topics you'd like to hear me wax lyrical on - I really would appreciate it right now because I'm fighting the Black Dog and whilst I really hate to ask for help - I need all the help I can ... read more
SEO Giggles
Since I run a business that can rise or fall depending on my knowledge of SEO, keywords and natural search - topics which I'm not in any way an expert on - this blog often provides insights into what works and what doesn't. I've learned a few things from my webstats that I've applied to my retail sites.I take a look at my web stats once or twice a week, and this week I feel like sharing my findings regarding a couple of recent searches that resulted in traffic to this blog. Make of them what ... read more
Blogaversary
I realised this week that I have been blogging for two years - today is my blogaversary. I remember when I first set up my blog I had this sense of writing into a void, of not having a clue what to say. I wasn't even sure what the point of blogging was and whether it was something I really wanted to do. Two years on I have come to accept the ebb and flow of my blog productivity/inconsistency and I try not to feel obligated to produce something - sometimes I just have nothing to post, sometimes ... read more
Single White Female?
During some recent browsing and surfing, I happened across a couple of blogs discussing the concept of having a "blog stalker". Apparently a blog stalker is a person who reads without commenting, usually a person unknown to the blogger. The blogger sees the visitor in their traffic stats and feels uneasy. "Who is that person from *insert location that shows in stats* who logs onto my blog 10 times a day, reads it more than I do and never says "hello"??"I think it's a bit melodramatic to label ... read more
