The New Moon today begins the cycle of the Wolf Moon. It is said that this moon gets its name from the hungry wolves who would howl near tribal settlements in North America.

I see a wolf standing alone at the edge of the ancient Caledonian Forest. She is a deep memory of a landscape faded. She is looking at the black of night decorated with the silver sliver of a new moon. Her domain is the wilderness and her struggle is survival in a world that would see her obliterated. She is wild, she will not live by the rules of humans and their society. She has her own language, her own rituals, her own ways of being in the world.

She raises her nose and drinks in the scent of the night, she stands her ground and opens her throat to the darkness, howling her song, marking the moon and hanging her dreams on its crescent.
