23 Reasons Why My Life Is Chaos

  1. If we had known what we know now, the sound-proofing project would have been done in week one and before we bought furniture or unpacked any boxes.
  2. Watching new plaster dry is as stimulating and progressive as watching paint dry.
  3. Having a whole room devoid of the detritus of home life means all the other rooms are over-flowing.
  4. The other rooms were sort of over-flowing anyway.
  5. It's unfathomable that all this detritus (I am being polite) could fit into the smaller dwelling we left, and yet it doesn't seem to here.
  6. I have not bought that many new books, honest.
  7. The bed may be the size of a small country, but it was my intention to sleep on it - not store two office chairs on it.
  8. The office is in the lounge.
  9. The stockroom is in the hall.
  10. I have absolutely no idea what is in the mountain of boxes in the kitchen.
  11. The walk-in cupboard in the bedroom has a beading table in front of it trapping the door closed, thus it is a walk-by cupboard.
  12. Like the kitchen, I have absolutely no idea what is actually in the walk-by cupboard.
  13. The elliptical cross-trainer is propping up two dismantled desks.
  14. This is my excuse for not exercising.
  15. It's a good one, no?
  16. The DVD collection is back in boxes masquerading as a bedside table and clothes horse.
  17. My tongue seems to be permanently coated in plaster dust or tasting paint.
  18. The weeds are relentless.
  19. So is the rain.
  20. Except when it's not there are four million other things to do.
  21. I have forgotten what colour the carpets are.
  22. Which is fine because I have to lift the hoover over some boxes to get it out of the cupboard.
  23. Another good excuse, no?
