Why I Am Participating in Earth Hour

The suggestion is really simple. I mean it is so simple that I cannot believe that people are having a problem. I mean what is so hard to understand about this:
At 8:30pm local time on Saturday 28th March switch your lights off for one hour.
???
But no, the human race needs to complicate, negate and obstinate about it all. The human race has to confuse switching the lights off with switching everything off. Which of course is just not going to happen because the global movement didn't think to OK the timing with football fans who can't read and comprehend a simple sentence.
It's a lightbulb you dummies, your telly can still glow in the dark.
For the record, I do not think that I am going to save the world or prevent global warming because I am going to be fumbling in the dark for sixty minutes. I am under no illusions that my flat being in darkness is going to make that big a difference.
The point, the real point, is that millions of people around the world are participating and connecting and demonstrating as one in a rolling symbol. The politicians, bankers, corporations, Bildebergs and other financial criminals may try to ignore it, but the more that people get together and speak the closer we get to democracy.
So quit whining about your evening of sport or the fact you can't see your newly botoxed mug in the mirror. Participate or don't - but at least read the simple instructions and plug in your thinking muscle before putting your finger to the keyboard.

I know an hour with light seem pointless. I do watch the lights and how there being used.
But I guess I’m rebel and I would say half the people won’t do it here because I live in very conservative area and those who think green should be tar and feathered.

I went one step further and I turned off everything except the fridge and the furnace, made myself a mug of tea, lit my candles, and after a chat with my neighbour, sat and pondered about life.
The thing is more than a few people on my block did not participate. My mind kept wandering to the fact that one day, they might not have a choice.
