2009 Carbuncle Awards ~ Trump Wins Worst Planning Decision for Destroying Protected Coastline

Architecture Scotland have concluded that the Scottish Government's decision to allow the destruction of a protected stretch of undeveloped coastline in Aberdeenshire is the worst planning decision of 2008.

I concluded this quite some time ago.

The problem is it wasn't quite a planning decision - it was an example of the erosion of democracy and a demonstration of just exactly what Alex Salmond is - a paternalistic power over screw the people screw the landscape screw ethics numpty. How to lose votes in one easy step.

"What is the point of establishing planning principles and designating areas, like the location of Trump's development, as a Site of Special Scientific Interest if the rules are simply ripped up every time somebody gets their cheque book out?"

Quite. The problem with Donald Trump is that once you let him in he won't stop at destroying the coastline at Menie. Aside from Destructive Donald, the Scottish Government have set a precedent for other developers and we are already seeing the fall-out - the owner 0f Fetternear Estate by Kemnay nearly fell over himself the day of the Trump announcement to lodge plans to destroy woodland habitat - Red Squirrel Habitat no less - to build, you guessed it, houses for profit (of course he dresses it up as a project beneficial to the community but it is simply destroying the environment to line his own pockets).

George Sorial, project executive for Trump International Golf Links, said: "Everyone knows what we intend to do at Menie is build the greatest golf course on Earth. The Carbunkle Award is only satire and a joke."

Ah that great espouser of rhetoric George Sorial, a man with a snake tongue if ever I saw one - and you can bet your bottom dollar that the mere mention of his name on this blog will bring in the hits from the Trump Corporation ISP in New York *laughter*.

Well George you may not take it serioulsy but you will never live in Scotland, pay taxes here or vote. It has long been clear that you think the people of Scotland are as irrelevant as the landscape and that we are simply to be ridiculed - you are simply a business tourist who has no real care about what people in Scotland want for their environment as long as your pocketses are lined.

George what you are doing is destroying an eco-system and you can dress it up any way you like, but you will always be an environmental destroyer in my view, as well as a silly little man who seems to have a Google Alert for your own name *more laughter*.
