Secret #2: Cultivating Attractions

You can’t wait for inspiration. You have to go after it with a club. ~ Jack London

This is the challenging part of creativity, I think, the part that requires effort and discipline... and it is the part I tend to struggle with. I know that I'm a creative person and that I am full of ideas, I know that I can look out th window and be inspired by the wink of a crow - but it the actual act of "turning up at the page" or putting creativity at the top of my to do list that I am inconsistent with.

I love that quote from Jack London - the idea that inspiration doesn't always just arrive for me to act on, that more often than not I have to be actively pursuing it before I can tune in.

This is what I am working on just now - prioritising my day so that writing and other creative pursuits aren't left until last and then added the the tomorrow list. I like the idea of cultivating creativity, digging for inspiration.

thanks for your kind comment on my post. i would love to hear more about the challenges you’ve faced in your creative business.
i have to admit, i certainly share one of the same obstacles you voice here: making it a priority. i am hoping this book blogging group, circle and public declaration i make will help hold me accountable. so we’ll see…
judging from you other post, are you currently waiting to move? having moved 6 times in 4 years, i can empathise with how it puts everything (literally) in hold… but at least the blank canvas to come will give you much creative enjoyment!
