I've been having a week of what I call losing my rhythm, where the healthy and creative routines I've been developing just sort of fell off without warning. I've allowed myself a bit of negative self-talk over this and a bit of blah blah blah about my lack of consistency. Then this morning I was writing my Morning Pages this morning, the first evidence of climbing back on the horsie, and thinking about the cycles I seem to go through and that linear routine is not really my style. Perhaps ... read more
Wishcasting: Space
Here's a new blog thing I've discovered - Wishcasting Wednesday. The idea is that you write a post in response to the wishcasting prompt and then add the link to your post onto the Wishcasting blog. People can then leave comments on your blog adding energy to the vortex that is busy creating your new reality.
This week's prompt is "What do you wish for your space?"...

I had fun today
The last few days I have been feeling a bit of a failure because I let my recent routine slip. I was getting into all this negative self-talk about lack of consistency and failure and blah blah blah.
This morning I just decided to start again telling myself "you know the routine and you know it brings you good vibes so just get on with it quine." So I did - and today has been the best day of the ... read more

Secret #2: Cultivating Attractions
You can’t wait for inspiration. You have to go after it with a club. ~ Jack London This is the challenging part of creativity, I think, the part that requires effort and discipline... and it is the part I tend to struggle with. I know that I'm a creative person and that I am full of ideas, I know that I can look out th window and be inspired by the wink of a crow - but it the actual act of "turning up at the page" or putting creativity at the top of my to do list that I am inconsistent ... read more
Challenge: Build My Sanctuary
I find it ironic that I am participating in this journey and reading this particular challenge. I am sitting in the room that I once transformed into my own creative space with everything from my favourite books, art materials, a spacious glass desk with enough room for computing on one side and all manor of messy activities on the other. The floor space allowed for dancing around an easel and I even made a painting that hung in a gallery. But now the room has been dismantled and decorated in ... read more
Secret #2: Honouring Your Inspirations
It's week 2 of The Next Chapter blogging journey exploring Chapter 2 of The Twelve Secrets of Highly Creative Women... I started out by listening to Jamie's interview with her sister, Suzie Ridler. I loved listening to Suzie speak about being a homemaker from a feminist point of view - I've been pondering the concept of feminism from several different angles this week and one thing that comes up is the narrow idea that seems to have perpetuated about what a feminist's life looks like. It's ... read more
Thoughts on the Week
Last week I felt like an unstoppable powerhouse and I enjoyed the ease of tapping into motivation and creativity and the almost total lack of depression. This week I have been noticing more of a fluctuation in my moods, and my creativity. I have not felt so on top of things and have had to be mindful to just let myself be instead of trying to push for something that just isn't going to happen. One thing I've noticed is the ease with which Outside Influences can throw me off track. I know ... read more
My Creative Self
I scanned my drawing and made copies so that I can try out different ways to colour the image. This is the first attempt, which I worked with a little in my picture editing software. Totally great fun ... read more
Drawing and Acknowledging My Creative Self
The writing bug has taken off - so much so that I am a little in awe of myself :) but there isn't much to show here other than a word count...
Tonight though I started trying to capture the image I have been percolating of my creative self. It's interesting to be so limited with art materials - most of them are in storage - but I think it is a little liberating too because I don't have to faff ... read more
Pink in Places
I was standing in the bath, post shower catching the drip with a towel, as you do, when the white oval bathmat on the floor caught my eye. It's a really insignificant bathmat usually, but on Sunday it appeared to have acquired a strange pink footprint pattern.I was bit puzzled as I hadn't noticed it before and I looked at my feet, and the bath, to see if I had somehow walked through a tin of paint. As you do. Nothing. I finished drying off and stood in the hall getting dressed, still ... read more

Predator and Voice ~ Dream
Synchronicity in dreams is one of my favourite things and this morning, my dream memory on waking included a wonderful nugget about my voice. I was standing in a place that was shades of grey and white and I was speaking to a man. I was talking a lot but I can't remember what I was actually saying. My voice and accent kept changing and morphing as I was talking. The man became agitated and then angry and accused me of being a fake because my accent wasn't consistent. I became very defensive ... read more
