Walking in a Winter Wonderland

I spent Wednesday afternoon tramping through the snow at Haddo House Country Park. It was a beautiful winter day with the sun low in the sky creating wonderful shadows and perfect lighting for some camera play.

The robins were delightful and clearly used to people with corn in their pockets as they flittered around following us and allowing us to step closer. We are sorry we did not have a treat for them as we were gifted with some great shots - they looked well fed though ;o)

The snow gave away the secrets of those who had been out and about earlier. Amongst the humans and dogs weaved the numerous rabbit tracks, a smattering of bird tracks, some interesting small mammal tracks that may have been a stoat and this set of Pine Marten prints. I have yet to spot an actual Pine Marten in the wild but so far I can tell you what their paws and poops look like :o )

Reminiscent of the the old Caledonian Pine Forest, of which only 1% survives, the Scots Pine and Silver Birch grow well together and they look pretty good together too :-)

Good to have you home, dear Twin, and *loved* the pics! I’m especially enchanted by the birdies!

Hoping both Mum and Little One are well.

    Lovin’ twinkles and big bosies.

Love the Robin! this reminds me of seeing bobcat tracks down near where I used to live in North Carolina , USA.
I would see deer tracks all the time and still do even in town, but the other animals are rarer.
Beautiful photos..the little robin looks like she is all puffed wup making insulation against the cold..

As I’m reading this post, one of Robin’s French cousins is sitting on the gate post.
