Change is the Buzzword – but where is the difference?
"You know that old Beach Boys song, Bomb Iran? Bomb bomb bomb, bomb bomb Iran."
~ John McCain
"My goal will be to eliminate this threat."
"I will do everything to stop Iran getting a nuclear weapon."
~ Barack Obama
(Source: BBC Article - where it also becomes clear he will be another president happy to ship bombs to Israel... will he also use Scottish domestic airports and forget to fill in the paperwork?)
I hate to feel apathetic before the expensive race to the White House has concluded, but I suspect the rest of the world is looking at just another US Administration.

Hen Pecked in The Thames
A great man once said ‘It doesn’t matter who you vote for, the government always gets in’. In this case it seems more than ever. Same shit, different face.
I cannot imagine how our current electioin process looks from the other side of the world. We are really hoping for a big change in the way things are done here. Unless the Republicans come up with some really, really dirty tricks, they don’t stand a chance against Obama. I am not rulig out some truly vile rumor mongering on the part of the Republican party. The term for it here is ’swift boating’ because one of the big reasons John Kerry lost to Bush is that some so called veterans made up some out and out lies about his service on swift boats in the Mekong Delta. He was a decorated hero and they said it was all a pack of lies and got a few people to believe them. I don’t think many people will be that gulible this time but there are a lot of racially predudiced people who are looking for any excuse to discredit Obamba and almost anything could happen. If McCain wins, I’m moving to some other country.
I’m with seventh sister…
Seventh Sister and Tammy ~ I’m not sure what you are saying – are you accusing me of spreading lies about Obama? Or are you accusing me of being racially prejudiced?
When I dip my toe into political opinions I try very hard to concentrate on facts – what the person said, what they vote for.
Obama has stated he wants to create the first real 21st century military – I’m assuming that means he will continue with the spread of US missile defence systems in Europe that could make the island I live on a prime target.
Obama wants to increase the size of the US military and when he talks about meeting with leaders of other nations he talks about *leading* them, showing them how he will lead. The language he uses leaves me chilled.
This is a man who voted for the PATRIOT act.
So when a man with these views sets himself up to be the next American president with a view to leading the world, I take notice.
I am not a US citizen and I am tired of seeing the world dominated by the White House and its military. I am just as tired of Westminster getting on its knees and supporting that domination.
I am glad I don’t have to vote in the US election because in my view, it’s a poor set of choices – and that isn’t much different from here
