Creative Bits

I got back into knitting last week and finally finished the pair of socks I started in Drumnadrochit. I love the earthy colours and the Freedom Spirit wool is excellent for sock making. This is the third pair I have made in this pattern ~ it's also the third pair I'm giving away. I promise to make a pair for me next...

Before I start more socks though I'm focusing on the baby papoose I started months ago. I got so far and then abandoned it, but if I don't finish it soon it will miss its opportunity to be useful - my nephew is growing fast :)

I like knitting socks because they are small and relatively quick to make, with an object like this papoose the long rows to make a long piece are challenging me with monotony. I can't knit without looking yet, so I stick on DVDs of familiar things (Friends, My So Called Life) so that I don't need to watch to be entertained :)

I love this alpaca wool though - it's so soft and it's calling me to treat myself to socks. The wool and the papoose pattern are from Artesano.

Another thing I've been playing around with is ink blot art, inspired by Leah at Creative Every Day. I've got a few pages of blots, but here's one that I've taken further with the help of some sharpies and squinting.

I made a new SoulCollage card... I haven't done the "I am the one who..." exercise with it yet, but it speaks to me about loch mysteries.

I love all of that creativity and productivity. Socks – many years since I knit a pair, but maybe this year… maybe! The inkblot picture is great fun, and that card… I’d love to see what you have to say about it, but just to see it is something. Lovely!

oooh, socks. I just got into cool socks this year: carefully mismatched ones. Yours look lovely! (and you say they’re easy – ha! I’d never even try). Love the inkblot beastie. Leah is such an inspiration!
