Rainbow over the Forth

I have the beginnings of a cold coming on and I'm also pre-menstrual, so you might want to take a step back. However, I need to be congratulated because instead of sitting inside feeling miserable, I motivated myself to take advantage of the sunshine and get all breathless in Holyrood Park. Of course by the time I got myself organised and out the door (and forgot my flask of water and things I was going to post), the clouds had begun to congregate. Still, I was thankful that the gale that was blowing yesterday both here and in Glasgow had subsided somewhat.

The picture above was taken from the Queen's Drive, about half way up to Dunsapie Loch. The rainbow was more intense in real life, so next time come with me instead of sitting in front of your monitor ;-) If you can see a little bump on the horizon, well that's North Berwick Law and next to it (probably not visible since I shrunk the pic) is the Bass Rock - I swear it was looking even whiter today!

The rain only sprinkled on me once, and my walk was otherwise perfect - my only complaint being too many cars polluting my peace. Good grief people if *I* can walk up that road, you have no excuse. Kudos to the mental joggers though, one day I may dream about running up there too...

For now I huff and puff and pause to enjoy a view, or to converse with a crow or to wonder at myself for living in Edinburgh for almost 6 years and only in the last year having the gumption to get above ground level in Holyrood Park. I suppose since Arthur's Seat has been there for 350 million years, it is almost acceptable to take for granted that it will be there tomorrow...

Today I followed the Queen's Drive up to Dunsapie Loch and round the High Road to The Hawse and then I took the Piper's Walk up (yes up again and with big, rocky steps - who needs a gym and a stepper??) and then joined the path called The Dry Dam that was somewhat boggy. I tested out my dodgy knees on the descent and arrived back at ground level beside St Margaret's Loch.

Now I'm off to find some tissues and hot lemon. Sniffle.
