Little White Balls
Yes the landscape of the North East of Scotland is yet again being recognised, and who can blame anyone for falling in love with that area of the world? I'm biased because I was born there and, despite accidentally moving to Edinburgh and settling here five years ago, I'm still a local quine, ken?
"Ury Estate is a fantastic landscape that commands great views across the surrounding countryside and out to the North Sea, offering us a wonderful opportunity."
Sounds good that quote, doesn't it?
Well here's what I have to say to the bloke who uttered those words - get on yer cellphone Donald Trump and make a date tae check oot some of yer ain "fantastic landscapes". I'm thinking Yellowstone Park or the Grand Canyon micht jist fit that bill, no?
Aye am ranting in ma ain tongue so a'll jist translate at fer ye since am dootin yer sae in touch wi local vibes, ken, that ye ken fit a'm spikkin aboot...
Jack Nicklaus why don't you give Donald Trump a call and have a conversation about the idea of exploiting some other fantastic landscapes like Yellowstone Park or the Grand Canyon?
Doesn't sound good, does it? Turning those fantastic landscapes into golf courses and exploiting the area for your own personal gains...?
So why do the pair of you think it is OK to come here and do it?

Oh and to the blokey at FM Developments who said "It is a great honour for someone with such stature as Jack Nicklaus to put his name to Ury Estate." ~ honour? honour? What is he... a man who created world peace? He played golf and fair doos he played it affa weel, but honour? Pick yersel up and hae a bit o self esteem, manny!
It is not an honour to sell up our natural heritage to the highest tycoon bidder. It is selling ourselves out to the disneyfication of the world.
So tak yer wee white bas and support the local economies in one of the 278 (as I understand it) golf courses already in existence in Scotland ~ and leave the fantastic landscapes and Sites of Special Scientific Interest alain.
Am nae jokin.

The Creepy Lurker
That sounds like an awful idea indeed. Mr. Nicklaus should definitely take his balls elsewhere. Great post … I especially enjoyed your excellent use of dialect, and surprisingly I was able to understand every word.
