Counting Down
In 10 hours I will be on a plane and heading to New Hampshire. Yay me! I will be back in blogland next week. Be good - and if you can't be good, be ... read more
See Birds!!
Suspecting disappointment, we decided to abandon an attempt to sample the Hovercraft. We felt time would be better spent making our way out to North Berwick to take advantage of our new membership at the Scottish Seabird Centre. We arrived in time to discover that we had just missed a train and had around 50 minutes to wait, so we had a lovely cheese and ham bagel for breakfast in the station and enjoyed the hustle and bustle of Waverley. The train wasn't very busy when we boarded and we ... read more
Happy Birthday To Me
It's my birthday today. I am 36 years "old". Conventional wisdom tells me that I am meant to be embarrassed, upset or distraught about this age. Actually conventional wisdom started telling me that from about the age of 29 - 30, this being the age of doom where everything changes for the worse. I made my Mum laugh the other day when I dramatically wailed Meg Ryan's line from When Harry Met Sally - "...and I'm gonna be Forty!" I just like to make my Mum laugh, but really I don't have a big ... read more
Puffling Hunting
10am saw the arrival of the Parental Units and the Prodigal Sister (mine this week). Yes, there was a reason for the busy-busy Saturday - parental visits in quick succession are great for the zen quality of my home. After cups of tea, some practical joking (PaternalUnit) and various gifts exchanges (none of which were to do with ageing) it was decided that we would introduce Prod to the delights of North Berwick. Time constraints meant we took the big road, rather than the much lovelier ... read more
Creatrix – Council
This card is always very powerful for me when I find it in my hands. I just need to pick it up for a second and feel the energy pounding. It's not a card I could leave out on my desk to motivate though - it's power lurks and chooses its' moments... Busy Busy
Do you believe that if you choose to put the right kind of energy in the right kind of direction desired things will come to pass? I do. Do you believe in magic? I do. Are the two things one and the same? Hmmm. I think that you can put the right energy in the right direction and magic is the ingredient that brings you what you want and often with bonus extras. This month I have felt inspired to blog, and also to give my blog some added visibility by adding it to places like Technorati ... read more
What Goes Around Comes Around
I just have to share this! I'm an Aiberdeen quine so I am familiar with the brass neck of the gulls of the Granite City. The street my folks live on usually has one seagull "chick" each year and woe betide those who dare to try and walk to their homes when the "chick" is on the ground! Now the City of Aberdeen has been complaining about seagulls for years, they have even undertaken some pretty questionable actions to try and halt the birds from breeding. You won't need to have known me for ... read more
Rockin’ Girl Bloggers
Earlier this month MisssyM awarded me the status of Rockin' Girl Blogger and I was most chuffed. After a little digging, I discovered the person who created the badge, Roberta, and you can read about it here. Now I think it's my turn to tell you who I think are Rockin' Girl Bloggers ~Tammy over at Women Art Life is pretty rockin... Tammy is a Creatrix and inspires me with her productivity, and the pieces she makes are just so gorgeous. I love the way she sees the world, I love her strong ... read more
Not Hovering
[caption id="" align="aligncenter" width="400" caption="Grey Heron"][/caption] The best days are sometimes the ones that don't resemble the plan at all... The plan was to lend our support to the two week trial of a new Forth crossing - taking the hovercraft from Portobello to Kirkcaldy and back again. Fortunately demand was so high that our only option was to stand in a queue for 2-3 hours. I say fortunately because this is only a two week trial to see if the venture is viable, and I ... read more
One Hundred
[caption id="" align="alignnone" width="300" caption="Pathworking"][/caption] To mark my one hundredth post to this blog I was going to post a list of one hundred things I want to do before I die - but so far I've only written down 86. I'm not sure what that says about me... either I'm happy with my lot, or lacking imagination or perhaps some of the 86 bullet points are cover-alls and I could be more specific. Writing one hundred posts to a blog is a small landmark in the big scale of ... read more
Art Exhibit
In June @ and I travelled to Odense in Denmark to see the exhibition mounted by TSLO. We both had work showing and it was just a wee bit exciting. @ took part last year and we had both travelled over, and I pledged to take part this year. In the end I was quite close to the deadline for submitting work when I decided to try and make an oil painting. I hadn't painted for YEARS and didn't quite know what was going to happen, but I had this vision of bringing Crow to a canvas and so I gave it a ... read more

[caption id="" align="aligncenter" width="500" caption="Forget Me Not"][/caption] I am absolutely determined to get to 28th July and have a blog post for every day. I know there is a theory about quality over quantity but this is my challenge to myself to actually write something here every day. I am trying to build the habit of daily writing and learn a bit of self discipline where creativity is concerned. That sounds a bit odd ~ "self discipline where creativity is concerned" but I ... read more
Little White Balls
Yes the landscape of the North East of Scotland is yet again being recognised, and who can blame anyone for falling in love with that area of the world? I'm biased because I was born there and, despite accidentally moving to Edinburgh and settling here five years ago, I'm still a local quine, ken? "Ury Estate is a fantastic landscape that commands great views across the surrounding countryside and out to the North Sea, offering us a wonderful opportunity." Sounds good that quote, doesn't ... read more
