My Foxy Home Video

Blurry Red Fox Kit Vulpes Vulpes

Blurry Red Fox Kit Vulpes Vulpes

This is the best example of any of the frustrating photography of the evening. The truth is that I have no idea what I am doing with a camera and so, when faced with challenging conditions (like fast fox kits as the sun goes out), I tend to fail (and wail) miserably. I mean just after this episode there was a gorgeous scene right in the middle of the grass (the choicest of places for a fox to be in relation to my giddy camera) where the vixen and one of the kits touched noses in a kiss like moment! What was my camera doing? It was making wheezing zoomy noises and chugging like a steam train, and by the moment it closed the shutter again all I had was a blurred frame of grass. And about twenty quid in the swear box.

OK so I'm not really looking for photography tips here ~ I learn by *doing* rather than *being told* (in other words I'm a crotchety pain in the arse). So I'm enjoying the challenge of trying to get a good shot of these foxies! BUT by the time they came out for The Main Event, I said copulate this and changed tactics: (I was also hearing the demanding voice of Herself from my comments box!)

open source video, video platform, open source video editor

Now - let's see if that shows when I press publish???

PS Right! Well on my monitor you get to see a bit of a fox and then a lot of black! On my camera it looked much clearer! Don't tell me I am going to have to learn video editing as well *wail*

PPS I have just opened "Windows Movie Maker" for the first time EVER and had a twiddle. I didn't do anything complicated or exciting other than drag and drop a couple of degrees of brightness. I hope it looks better!

They are adorable! Looks like the parents are doing a good job. I hope that area/ecosystem can support them.

  2. Misssy M says:

They are so aware of you filming them, aren’t they? If I had that going on in my back garden I’d be up all night. Thanks!

Eve has asked me to replay it about 6 times!

    From the demanding Besom!

the photo looks like a ghost fox – these posts are so cool! How lucky to have such wildlife around you! Like Misssy M – I’d never be able to leave the window/watching perch!

They’re beautiful! I love the photo at the top: although it’s not a sharp image, it’s captured some element of foxness (like the Uffington White Horse represents horseness, if that makes any sense).
