My Hut … Memories From The Belt Croft

[caption id="" align="aligncenter" width="515" caption="Taexalia and Polly"][/caption] When I was a child I had the luxury of spending most of the school holidays on my Granda's croft, away from the city. I remember when Granda's car would arrive to take us on the long journey to Belt Croft. I say long journey because it always seemed to take forever to get there, yet as an adult I know it must have only been an hour or so. Funny how things always seem so much bigger in a child's mind. I ... read more

The High Vibes Game of Tag

I've been tagged to play the High Vibes Game which was started by Cardin Routh at OptimistLab. My tagee is the wonderful Lynda Lippin. For this one the focus is a new alternative tagging site called High Vibe It, a social media site for all things alternative and cool. Red Fox Rearing

At the risk of having to re-name this blog The Fox Saga, I can tell you that the little darlings were around today. I've been hearing them tonight after dark too, it's great when you know for definite the sound you are hearing is fox. They were not as active as yesterday, but given the piddling rain who can blame them, and so here is another of my favourites from yesterday. My Foxy Home Video

[caption id="" align="aligncenter" width="400" caption="Blurry Red Fox Kit Vulpes Vulpes"][/caption] This is the best example of any of the frustrating photography of the evening. The truth is that I have no idea what I am doing with a camera and so, when faced with challenging conditions (like fast fox kits as the sun goes out), I tend to fail (and wail) miserably. I mean just after this episode there was a gorgeous scene right in the middle of the grass (the choicest of places for a fox to ... read more

Garden Drama

I haven't been successful in getting a pic of any of the fox kits so far. They are only appearing right at dusk and they are very quick on their tiny toes! I suspect they were less visible last night because a neighbour left his wee doggie in the garden ~ I don't understand folk who pay more than I earn in a month on a posh pooch and then abandon it outside until long after dark... Anyway, the posh pooch (who is actually quite a fine wee being) was doing her thing lying on the path watching ... read more

Grandma By Default

I announced this elsewhere as "I think I'm a Mum again" and it was suggested that I'm actually a Grandma since the parental units are present... OK! Just before 10pm tonight, as the night was creeping in, my eye was caught by movement out in the back gardens... A fox! But not just any of our three regular foxes - this one was small! Over the next half hour or so, we watched more fox activity than I have ever seen. I think there are definitely two youngsters, at least, but they are all ... read more

Wonderful Copenhagen

[caption id="" align="aligncenter" width="350" caption="Denmark"][/caption] Following on from the delectable Mötley Crüe - and that memory still brings a big grin to my face - we flew to Copenhagen for the first part of our Danish sojourn. We checked into the lovely Hotel Nebo just behind the railway station - only 2 minutes of suitcase wheeling and very close to everything. It's a 2 star and our room didn't have en suite, but the facilities were clean and always available - Denmark ... read more

Istas Wolf ~ Wolf Mountain Sanctuary ~ Prayers Please!

Pic by Allan Twiname

I met Istas at Wolf Mountain Sanctuary in 2004 and he is a wonderful spirit. On Saturday he was rushed to a vet for emergency surgery on a blockage in his intestine. He is fighting despite post-op complications - please send love, prayers, Reiki and healing to Istas and also to those who care for Istas and his pack at Wolf Mountain. Wolf Mountain Sanctuary do not receive any funding and are ... read more

A Sixx And Lee Sandwich Will Do Nicely, Thank You.

Mötley Crüe kindly organised a gig at the Manchester Apollo on the 12th. Perfect timing as a bonus detour on our way to Denmark, and a perfect gig too. We were warmed up by Papa Roach who pounded from start to finish and got my booty shooglin.. They left us wound up for more and after a (too long) interval I caught a movement offstage and spotted Mick making his way through a door - within seconds the edgy mood of the impatient audience erupted into a frenzy as the band finally blessed us ... read more
