Work In Progress 2

[caption id="" align="aligncenter" width="500" caption="Work In Progress ~ Totem"][/caption] I think I'm working backwards! I think that if I paint Crow again, which I might, I would begin by making the sky and the standing stone and then add the crow - but I live and learn. I painted out his feet and legs and am in the process of re-working them. The sky is sort of blocked in and I am hoping for a fairy visit overnight. He will be finished tomorrow and I want to start a new canvas right ... read more

Work In Progress

[caption id="" align="aligncenter" width="400" caption="Work In Progress ~ Totem"][/caption] This is how my painting is looking tonight. I don't think the details have photographed well, but the painting itself looks great. Hmm well Crow looks great but the background details haven't fully formed in my head. I've learned two things whilst trying to plot the background... either leave the background until the bird is finished, or do it first and let it dry a bit. I suppose it adds to the ... read more

Diving In

[caption id="" align="aligncenter" width="386" caption="Diving In"][/caption] When I was in primary school two things happened that I am remembering today... Actually I'm not sure about the first one because I might even have been in nursery still... I painted a train and I don't remember all of the details, perhaps I should phone my Mum and prod her memory, but my painting somehow got entered into a competition. I don't remember painting the actual train but I remember we had to find our ... read more

Crow

[caption id="" align="aligncenter" width="450" caption="Crow"][/caption] My desk is by the window and as I work I enjoy watching the visitors - we have a rich variety of visitors. Foxes, squirrels, magpies, gulls, a pair of collared doves, wood pigeons, starlings, blue tits, great tits, greenfinches, and my favourite - Crow. There are quite a few crows around here, but the one in the picture is Crow because his territory is largely in my view. It took me a little while to realise that the ... read more

Magic

[caption id="" align="aligncenter" width="348" caption="Small White Butterfly Child"][/caption] Late last year we had a bonus extra in our organic lettuce from the farm - I fed her up and watched her turn into a chrysalis. Her jar has sat on my desk throughout the winter with a tiny inch long fragile greenish pouch precariously attached with a few strands of gossamer. At one end the caterpillar's old head dangled, no longer required... Just yesterday I was worrying a little that she ... read more

Feeling Alive Again

[caption id="" align="aligncenter" width="400" caption="*sigh*"][/caption] It's been a down and up week for me... Last Friday I got my annual migraine as I was travelling to the storytelling workshop "Animal Magic". Despite the fact I couldn't see, I managed to get some pills from a pharmacist and take them before the pain set in - I was absolutely NOT going to miss the workshop. My vision cleared soon enough and although I felt a little spacey, I was able to participate and I got a lot ... read more

The Tiniest Things

[caption id="" align="aligncenter" width="400" caption="Red Moon Labyrinth"][/caption] A quiet day today - I gave myself a Reiki treatment and read some stories. The new issue of Mslexia arrived in the post so I savoured that and will take it to bed with me. The only creative thing I did today was figure out how to make a favicon image appear beside my website URL in a browser - which sends me down the path of thinking about designing a new logo... but not today. But that tiny little image ... read more

Clutterbug!

[caption id="" align="aligncenter" width="500" caption="Seeking Calm"][/caption] My home is in chaos! It's driving me mental! I need to rant! I know this will be over and I know that millions of people have far larger problems but holy moly I want it to be over! We recently had our central heating system totally replaced and now we are in limbo as we organise the ripping out and replacement of the kitchen. Better planning might have ensured that we moved elegantly from one week of heating ... read more

Storytelling Workshop

[caption id="" align="aligncenter" width="400" caption="Liminal Spaces"][/caption] Saturday definitely goes down in my story as a pivotal day. I'm still reeling from the whole thing - it was awesome in so many ways and I was awesome in so many ways that I think I'm still floating Way Up There... Although the floaty stuff came after the workshop as I managed to remain as present as I needed to be throughout.. David Campbell is a genius! He crafted a workshop that gently initiated people ... read more
