A Sneaky Predator

Herdwick Sheep
Here's one of my holiday snaps - aren't these sheep just the cutest? They are Herdwick Sheep - a hardy breed found in the Lake District in England. These were about 2 metres away from us with no fencing - they are intently watching our Gemmadog - who paid them no heed whatsoever. I'm not sure, but the one on the left may have a lamb or two in that belly
I am so enjoying my Morning Pages - I don't even have to think about doing them now, I just do them. I haven't missed a day yet. This morning they had a haphazard feel to them - a bit of brain drain, a bit of grumping about the disarray in our semi-transformed home and some rambling about the creative process of drawing last night. Then on the legendary Third Page came a wee revelation. It's always the third page, isn't it?
I was thinking about what I need to do today within my business and I set a goal and then I felt my brain running off into the blueyonder thinking "after that you need to do this, then you need to do this yada yada". Before I knew it I felt the doom cloud forming and I could feel my energy dissipate as I felt overwhelmed. I scribbled this thought process down and realised that this is one of my patterns, and one way that I lose momentum - relentless unfettered brainstorming.
Now, I don't think you are even supposed to use that term anymore - someone on a course I did with my former employer told me it is un-PC to use the term... but I can't remember the term she told us to use instead. Anyway, I thought about how GOOD I am at brainstorming and that I don't give that talent proper space - so it just spills out whenever it gets a chance. It becomes a negative, predatory force and derails me. So I'm going to set up a time each week just for brainstorming, and try to catch myself when I get caught up in it when I need to be focusing on the One Small Step.

brainstorming is not PC? Well, there’s a news flash. Too bad you can’t remember the new word. Must not be as good at describing what we do. =]
And yes, what IS it about that 3rd page? It’s magical! And morning pages is about all I’m doing at this point, but that’s enough because they ARE the magic!
hi taexalia!
it was nice to finally visit your blog again. sorry that i’ve been away!
oh, i am soooo in agreement with your 3rd page is the charm theory. i write a lot of yadda yadda yadda also…it’s cool that you are noticing these patterns about yourself and then doing something useful with them!
