Trapped by Procrastination

Description:

I made this card a couple of nights ago. I intended to describe procrastination - something I am wrestling with just now. I found it easy to do the "I am the one who.." exercise but I found it challenging to consider what procrastination could give me, or what it wants from me. Doing those exercises has made me look at my procrastinating self from a different angle - perhaps there is a purpose for procrastination...

Trapped

Procrastinating Self SoulCollage Card

Who are you?

I am the one who is caught in my own trap.
I am the one who is stuck
I am the one whose hands are tied
I am the one who is blocked
I am the one who is motionless
I am the one who is glum

What do you have to give me?

I give you the pause before action. I give you frustration which burns. I give you time to let the ideas compost. I give you time to plan. I give you a low so that you can appreciate the highs.

What do you want from me?

I want you to feel stasis. I want you to sit. I want you to think.

SoulCollage® is the process, developed by Seena B. Frost, of creating a deck of collaged cards from found images—cards that are arranged in suits for the primary purpose of self-exploration and self-acceptance. SoulCollage® cards are made from original purchased art (e.g., art published in magazines, calendars, books, cards, etc.) and personal materials (e.g., photos). SoulCollage cards are not to be sold, traded, or bartered and are to be reproduced only for the personal use of the maker of the card.

Just stopped by to see your cards. I am using the SoulCollage process with my blog The New Moon Journal http://www.newmoonjournal.blogs.com work. Your procrastination card and ice queen speak to the Capricorn energies I am writing about. I will be sending my readers here to look and read your blog.

This card is so beautiful, as well as very verbal… procratination always has a lot to say! I don’t know if this is true for you or not, but when I find myself procrastinating (at work anyway), it’s because that part of me is thinking that it can protect me from failure, from putting myself out there and being rejected. Just a thought. See if it resonates with you. Peace, joy, Anne Marie- http://www.KaleidoSoul.com

Anne Marie’s comment covers my discovery about my procrastinator also. It struck me that the stuckness was about protecting me from failure – or even at times the responsibility of success! I love your cards. The images here are so powerful.

Extraordinary image of trappedness you have created here!

I’m glad your Procrastinator is also a composter – it can be frustrating to compost ideas but also very valuable.

I had an experience in a group I was in one year where we all drew a card from a particular tarot deck – the one I got was about stasis – the others were worried that I’d feel bad about this but I didn’t – the image was of a bear hibernating in its cave over winter – I love that!
