More Committee

I made the Samhuinn trio and then life got very busy and I was slack in making time for creativity. The cycle outward was natural I suppose - one can spend too much time gazing inward and forget to make hay while the sun shines. Eventually I got to a point where I felt I had to make an effort to play and I sat down and made one card and I came up with the jigsaw puzzle images.

Looking back it seems pretty reflective of my inner workings at that time - the process of planning and figuring out the best way to do things. Putting all the parts of my knowledge together to try and create the best picture. Or perhaps the card is a reflection of the SoulCollage process itself - finding the pieces of the jigsaw and asking questions.

Then this week I made five cards. I felt the need for some magic because my life at this time of year becomes very mundane, and this year especially I've had some Big Reality visiting! I loved the card I created which speaks about the magic of the Full Moon.

I followed it by making the card with a sense of melancholy the same evening, and I really love the way two cards made back to back can have almost opposite energy. I noticed this when I made the Creatrix card, which took a long time to form, swiftly followed by Happiness which just fell together in minutes. It's like a deep expression in one direction needs to be balanced by something...

I have noticed that I spend most of my time making the cards, rather than consulting them. I found myself saying "you're doing it wrong" because of this - but I realise that this is just my process for now and that there's much value in just plotting the visual map. And I seem to be creating mostly committee cards too but I'm letting go of some voice that says "I should make some companion or community cards"...

Someone said to me a few months ago that my mind gets caught up in following every detail and sometimes I block myself this way - and she was right! It's very freeing to just make the cards and not demand a further outcome for myself...

SoulCollage® is the process, developed by Seena B. Frost, of creating a deck of collaged cards from found images—cards that are arranged in suits for the primary purpose of self-exploration and self-acceptance. SoulCollage® cards are made from original purchased art (e.g., art published in magazines, calendars, books, cards, etc.) and personal materials (e.g., photos). SoulCollage cards are not to be sold, traded, or bartered and are to be reproduced only for the personal use of the maker of the card.
